Senior Manager, Brand Design & Social Media
Alex came to Up2Us Sports as an AmeriCorps VISTA in 2012. After two years of service, Alex officially joined the staff to continue her role as the organization's designer and social media lead. Alex graduated from the University of Michigan, where she worked as a sports reporter and graphic designer for The Michigan Daily and played on the Women’s Club Volleyball team. Outside the office, she coaches a team of 13-year-olds for NYC Juniors in volleyball and life skills. Through her experiences playing and coaching, Alex has learned how crucial youth sports can be to kids everywhere.
Dre De La Peza
Senior Training Manager, Los Angeles
Dre is a Los Angeles native who has spent the last seven years serving communities around the city. Prior to stepping into his current role of Senior Training Manager, Dre served as our LA-based CAA Program Manager for a year. Previously, Dre worked as a Program Manager with City Year LA supporting a team of AmeriCorps members through a year of service at Samuel Gompers Middle School in South LA. Prior to this, Dre was the Program Director for America SCORES LA, a nonprofit after-school program that uses soccer, poetry, and service learning to help youth become engaged in their health, education, and community. Dre is a proud graduate of Santa Clara University and an AmeriCorps VISTA alumnus.
Senior Training Manager, Mid-Atlantic
Prior to joining the Up2Us Sports team, Mariana worked with unaccompanied immigrant youth from Central America, providing legal trainings, screenings, and referrals for children entering the immigration court system. Mariana has a BS in Communications with a minor in Psychology from Boston University. In 2014 Mariana earned her Master's in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. While completing her graduate studies, she worked with immigrant populations in North Philadelphia as a bilingual domestic violence counselor, advocate, and group co-facilitator for a women’s trauma recovery empowerment group at Congreso de Latinos Unidos. Mariana served as an AmeriCorps volunteer for two years in Austin, where she was a mentor and tutor for at-risk students in the Austin public schools. She also spent time in Santiago de Chile as a volunteer for VE-Global: Voluntarios de la Esperanza, where she organized and led educational and recreational workshops in a group home for teenage victims of child abuse and neglect. A native of Argentina, Mariana stumbled upon the sport of rowing in high school and quickly fell in love with the feeling of community it created within a new culture. This ultimately led her to find a passion in coaching, and she has been a high school, collegiate, and masters level rowing coach for programs across the country over the past 8 years alongside her career in social services. She continues to coach and row out of Boathouse Row in Philadelphia.
Operations Manager, Up2Us Coach
Proshawn joined Up2Us Sports after completing his master's degree in sports management from Columbia University. During his time at Columbia, Proshawn worked as a student associate with the New York Knicks in their Community Relations and Fan Development department, coached at Knicks Summer Camp, and interned with the Brooklyn Nets in their brand marketing department. He has worked with various organizations in sports including GlideSlope, Premier League Basketball and Club Atlético de Madrid in Spain. Proshawn also holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Georgetown University.
Training Manager, New Orleans
Nate joined the New Orleans Up2Us Sports staff after serving as a Coach Across America coach with Excite All Stars in New Orleans East. With a background in fundraising for middle and high schools and as a small business owner, Nate has been working with youth for over 13 years. He also served as a volunteer and full-time Student Pastor in Jennings, Louisiana for 10 years before moving to New Orleans to be part of a positive change in one of the most unique cities in America.
